Pregnancy can be a bumpy road. From the first tiny kicks of your little one to food cravings and morning sickness, pregnancy has its ups and downs!
Dads, your time has come. A new study from Planet Fitness has found that ‘dad bods’ are more popular than ever with the ladies.
“Our survey results show the majority of people think positively about dad bods, and men who identify as having them are proud of who they are. That’s exactly how we want all of our members to feel when they come to Planet Fitness,” said Jessica Correa, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Planet Fitness.
Researchers found that nearly seven out of ten people found that men with a few or 20 extra pounds were attractive.
This is the third year Planet Fitness has surveyed how American men and women feel about the ‘dad bod’ body type with data pointing to a more widespread acceptance by men and women of the body type.
Researchers found that more Americans this year believe that having a ‘dad bod’ is attractive (65 percent vs. 57 percent) and that men with that body type are sexy (61 percent vs. 51 percent). The survey also found more Americans also felt the ‘dad bod’ was the new six-pack (51 percent vs. 41 percent).
Nearly four in five women said men with ‘dad bods’ were a sign that the man was comfortable in his own skin – signifying that confidence, not muscles, was the main attractive quality for many.
Both men and women associated the ‘dad bod’ with positive traits, the survey found. More men with a ‘dad bod’ said they were happier with their body in comparison to last year (79 percent vs. 64 percent), and that having that type of body had improved their life in some way (72 percent vs. 62 percent).
Then again, in a year where ‘Fat Thor’ became an icon and Andy Ruiz Jr. surprises the boxing world with his win, maybe the survey’s results shouldn’t be much of a shock.
